ATV accident with injuries

On November 12th, 2025, at 10:15 P.M., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of an ATV accident on Grand Avenue in McKinley Township. The caller reported a single male patient with severe medical trauma lying next to an ATV.

Deputies and first responders arrived on scene to find a semi-responsive 40-year-old male from rural Gilbert, MN. The male was located on the ground next to his ATV. After speaking with individuals on scene, it was determined the male was traveling alone and the crash was not witnessed. Friends located the male as they were returning to the area from watching the Northern lights together. The male had left from the group earlier on his ATV. The male was not wearing a helmet and alcohol appears to be a factor.

Medical personnel treated the male on scene who was later air lifted to a medical facility with life threatening injuries. The name of the male is being withheld pending further investigation and notification to family.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by several local first responders, ambulance services, fire departments, St. Louis County rescue squad, and air medical.
