70 yr old lost hunter located by emergency responders

On Monday, November 10th, 2025, at approximately 7:10 P.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and area rescue personnel were notified of a lost hunter in unorganized township 62R-17, which is several miles East of the City of Cook, MN.

It was learned that a 70-yr old male from Minneapolis, MN had left at daybreak to go deer hunting on his hunting property East of the City of Cook, MN. At some point during the day, the male had injured a deer and was tracking the animal at which time he became lost as the darkness fell.

The lost hunter was able to make contact with his wife in Minneapolis, who then attempted to report her husband's predicament. While at the same time, St. Louis County 911 dispatchers received a dropped 911 call from the males' cell phone. Dispatchers were able to get general GPS coordinates of the lost hunter from his 911 call and dispatched several agencies to assist in locating the male.

The male was located safe and uninjured deep into the woods by search parties, consisting of personnel trained and experienced heavily in human tracking.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the U.S. Border Patrol, MN DNR Conservation officers, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office Rescue Squad, and the Bois Forte / Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Department.
