One vehicle accident with injuries

On Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, at approximately 10:10 P.M., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, as well as area first responders, were notified of a one vehicle accident on the 3000 Blk of Breezy Point Rd in Greenwood Township, Northwest of Tower, MN, near the shores of Lake Vermillion.

It was reported that a Jeep SUV had left the roadway, slid down a steep embankment, and came to rest in some trees. The driver, and lone occupant of the Jeep, a 58-year-old male from St. Paul, MN, was transported to Virginia Regional Medical Center - Essentia by ambulance, for non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, but it is believed alcohol was a major contributing factor in the crash.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Bois Forte Police Department, Greenwood Fire Department, Tower Ambulance, and Virginia Ambulance.
