Michael Hart captured
On October 7, 2025, at approximately 11:30 AM, members of the Lake Superior Violent Offenders Task Force, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Aitkin Itasca Mille Lacs VCET and Itasca County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 240 NW 8th Avenue Cohasset, MN 55721.
Michael Todd Hart DOB 5/5/1985 was taken into custody for an active arrest warrant for escape from custody, (NERCC) on September 23, 2025.
Members of LSVOTF began looking for Hart shortly after receiving information that Hart was back on the iron range area after his initial escape.
Members of LSVOTF recently obtained information on Hart’s location through the investigation that led to the execution of the search warrant in Cohasset.
During the execution of the search warrant, Hart was believed to be hiding inside the basement of the residence. Hart was later located underneath the basement stairwell and refused to exit the stairwell. Pepper ball was deployed at Hart which led to him being placed into custody.
Hart remained uncooperative after being placed in handcuffs and assaulted deputies on scene.
Devon Michelle Shackelton DOB 10/19/1995 was also placed under arrest for aiding an offender.
Hart and Shackelton were transported and lodged at the Itasca County Jail, pending arraignment for new charges associated with the incident.
