County to present design options, invites public feedback at meeting on Midway Road corridor study
St. Louis County Public Works is studying the two-mile segment of Midway Road between Highway 194 in Hermantown and North Pike Lake Road in Canosia Township, along with a short segment of Martin Road that connects to it. This corridor has a variety of safety concerns including a high density of access points and additional intersections with frontage roads, an aging traffic signal, lack of accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists along a road that is heavily traveled by large vehicles, and other issues.
As the next step in the corridor study, St. Louis County Public Works will host a public meeting on Thursday, October 2, at 6 p.m., at Hermantown City Hall, 5105 Maple Grove Road in Hermantown. The meeting also will be livestreamed for anyone wishing to attend virtually.
County engineers have been gathering public input over the last several months and have developed potential designs for the public to review and provide feedback on. The designs will show alternatives for driving lane configurations, intersections, on-street parking, pedestrian and bicyclist facilities, including pedestrian crossings; and other issues affecting safe traffic flow.
More information about the study, including a link to attend the meeting virtually and the option to sign up for email updates, can be found on the project website: engage.stlouiscountymn.gov. The direct link is: Midway Rd Corridor Study | Engage St Louis County.
