Single vehicle accident sends on to the hospital

On August 26th at approximately 2:17 PM, area first responders and law-enforcement respond to the report of a single vehicle rollover near the intersection of Highway 21 and Lehto Rd located in Embarrass Township.

It was reported that an elderly male driver, who was the only occupant, had sustained an arm injury and was stuck inside the vehicle.

The accident occurred in a highway construction zone, as a result many construction workers on scene assisted first responders with removing the driver from the vehicle.

Highway 21 was closed southbound at the intersection of Lehto Road for maintenance.

The driver was traveling southbound on Highway 21 and failed to navigate a left turn after realizing Highway 21 was closed for construction.

The vehicle hit an embankment of dirt after leaving the roadway and flipped end over end.

The driver was transported to an area hospital by ambulance to be treated for his injuries which are believed to be non-life-threatening.

No construction workers were injured as a result of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office
