On 4/9/2025 at approximately 5:53PM the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and several fire departments responded to a house fire in the 3200 Block of Beach St in Lakewood Township. The house is a total loss.  No humans were injured, a cat did perish.  The fire is being investigated by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal, foul play is not suspected.

The following fire departments responded and assisted with the scene: Lakewood Fire, Duluth Fire, Air Guard Fire, Gnesen Fire, Normanna Fire and Rice Lake Fire.
