On March 18, 2025, at approximately 1043 hours, area emergency services and law-enforcement responded to the report of a fire at Dyno Nobel Inc., a business located in the 5300 block of Vermillion Trail located south of Biwabik, Minnesota.

Dyno Nobel manufacturers blasting products used by the mining industry. 

Based upon guidelines contained with the US Department of transportation, emergency response guide precautionary evacuations were initiated. 

Once the fire department was on scene, it was determined that the fire had started near an exhaust vent. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. 

Evacuation efforts related to this incident were precautionary and have since been lifted. 

There were no reported injuries related to this event. 

Emergency resources appreciate the public's understanding and cooperation during this incident. 

The exact amount of damage is unknown at this time. The incident remains under investigation. 

Assisting agencies were: Gilbert Police Department, East Range Police Dept., Biwabik Township Fire Dept., City of Biwabik Fire Dept., Fayal Township Fire Dept. Lakeland Fire Dept. and St. Louis Emergency Management.
