Delays expected, alternate routes encouraged following accident at intersection of West Arrowhead and Haines Roads

A vehicle accident at the intersection of Haines Road and West Arrowhead Road on Monday afternoon has destroyed the electrical service pole and traffic signal system's controller cabinet. As a result, the traffic lights are currently non-operational at this intersection that serves approximately 24,000 vehicles per day.

Stop signs have been put in place for the time being. Motorists are warned to expect traffic back up and delays at this intersection, and are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid the intersection until the traffic signal system can be replaced.

It is anticipated that it will take at least through the end of this week, and possibly longer to replace the electrical service and controller cabinet. St. Louis County is working with traffic partners to find alternate sources for replacement parts to minimize the time necessary to complete the repairs and get the traffic signal system operational again.

Changeable message signs will be posted on Haines Road and West Arrowhead Road notifying traffic of this outage.
