Mountain Iron man missing
On March 11, 2025 at approximately 1616 hours, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office deputies were requested to conduct a welfare check on a Mountain Iron resident, identified as 39-year-old, Benjamin James Sherwood.
Sherwood’s wife indicated that she had last seen him at approximately 10 a.m. at their residence located in the 8800 block of Main Street. Sherwood’s wife indicated that her husband left on foot, had sustained an injury to his back and neck after recently slipping on some ice and suffers from a prior traumatic brain injury.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office Rescue Squad was dispatched to aid in the search.
Search efforts continued into the early morning hours and consisted of numerous ground and aerial searches however they were all unsuccessful in locating Benjamin.
One promising lead indicates that Benjamin was possibly seen near the intersection of North 8 Avenue West and 16th Street North in Virginia at approximately 4 PM.
Residents and businesses located in Mountain Iron, Walmart, L&M, Parkville and the northwestern part of the city of Virginia are urged to check their security cameras for images of Benjamin and report them to 911 reference case number 25035248.
Benjamin is described as a white, 39-year-old male, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing 180, bald head, beard and was last observed wearing a blue coat, with an orange fur-lined hood, khaki pants, dark brown boots, and orange hat with a wide dark green stripe on it. It is also believed that he may be wearing a camouflaged backpack similar to the one seen in the photographs below.
Anyone with information regarding Benjamin’s whereabouts are urged call 911.
