Snowmobile crash in Crane Lake Township

On February 20th, 2025, at 9:15 P.M., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to Crane Lake Township for the report of a snowmobile crash. The caller reported one male injured and unresponsive after striking a tree.

A 72-year-old male from Glenville, MN was trail riding with friends when he veered off the trail striking a tree. Friends of the victim rendered aid until medical personnel arrived on scene. The male subcommand to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The cause of the crash is unknown; however, it appears speed may have been a factor.

The identity of the male is being withheld pending family notification.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by several Fire Departments, First responders, and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
