Duluth Township shooting
On January 21st, 2025, at about 1830 hours, law enforcement officers were called to a report of a 19-year-old female with a gunshot wound at Aspirus St. Lukes hospital in Duluth. Through investigation, it was learned the female, and a 17-year-old male had driven out to the area of the 6200 block of the Berquist Rd in Duluth Township to meet with another individual, later identified as 19-year-old EVAN WARREN EDBLOM. During the encounter, EDBLOM produced a .22 caliber handgun and fired numerous rounds into the vehicle driven by the two victims. The female sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her foot. After the shooting, they drove to Aspirus St. Lukes hospital, where the female victim was ultimately treated and released. The parties were known to each other and the incident is believed to be drug related.
On January 22nd, 2025, EDBLOM was located and taken into custody by St. Louis County Deputies. His preliminary charges include two counts of 2nd degree assault, reckless discharge of a firearm and two counts of theft of a firearm. The handgun and other evidence related to the incident were located during a search warrant at the residence where EDBLOM was residing.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Duluth Police Department during this incident.
