Snowmobile Crash on Wild Rice Lake Reservoir

On December 19, 2024, at 1612 hours, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Rice Lake Fire Department, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, MN DNR and Mayo Ambulance were dispatched to a report of a snowmobile that had flipped on Wild Rice Lake Reservoir in the city of Rice Lake. It was reported the male was conscious and breathing but was not wearing a helmet.

Upon arrival by emergency personnel, the 79-year-old male patient was assessed and ultimately transported to St. Luke's with non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was not a factor.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office would like to remind all snowmobile riders to use caution and wear a helmet while operating snowmobiles on our trails and lakes.
