ATV crash

On October 19th, 2024, at 4:42pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the 8500 block of Ralph Road, in Alango Twp, due to a report of an ATV crash. The sole occupant of the ATV was reported as an approximate 50 year old male.

Witnesses to the crash stated that a deer ran out, onto the road, as the ATV was travelling at approximately 30 mph, on the Ralph Road.  The ATV struck the deer and then flipped.  The driver was thrown from the ATV and landed in the middle of the road.  The driver, who is visiting the area, was not wearing a helmet. 

The driver was flown by helicopter to a Duluth hospital, due to possible internal injuries.  The name of the driver of the ATV is being withheld, pending notification of family. 

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Cook Ambulance and Virginia Ambulance services, Lifelink Helicopter, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Minnesota DNR and U.S. Forest Service Law enforcement division.
