House fire with injuries
On Friday October 11th, at approximately 1126 A.M. area first responders and fire departments were dispatched to the report of a 60 yr old male victim suffering from burns over most of his body, laying at the end of a driveway, in the 7100 block of Antoinette Rd. in rural Eveleth, MN (unorganized township 56R-17).
Law enforcement arrived on scene and found the victims house to be fully engulfed in flames. The male was ultimately transported to a metro area hospital with life threatening burn injuries by Life Link air medical service. There were no other injuries reported at this time.
The identification of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office with assistance from the MN State Fire Marshals Office.
St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Eveleth Police Department, MN State Patrol, Eveleth Ambulance, Fayal Fire Department, Central Lakes Fire Department, Colvin Fire Department, Ellsberg Fire Department, Makkinen Fire Department, Lakeland Fire Department, Palo Fire Department, Virginia Ambulance, and Life Link III.
UPDATE:
The Sheriff's Office has learned that the victim, who is identified as 63 yr old Dale Wallander of rural Eveleth, has died from injuries suffered in the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and the MN State Fire Marshals Office.
