Unpermitted house burn
A structure fire was reported at approximately 8pm in the 6700 block of Seville Road in Solway Township. Fire crews responding observed a home fully engulfed in flames, and no one inside of the structure. It was determined that the fire was intentionally started by the homeowner in an effort to destroy what was left of the structure during demolition. A proper permit for the burn was not obtained by the homeowner. The matter is still under investigation by the St Louis County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal.
The Solway and Grand Lake Fire Departments responded and extinguished what was left, including adjacent trees that had caught on fire. No injuries were reported.
