ATV crash with injuries
On August 10th, 2024, at 1015pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to E. Hayes Road, near County Hwy 25 which is located east of Hibbing, due to a reported ATV crash. Upon arrival of the Sheriff's Office, a passenger was found to have minor facial injuries and transported to the Virginia Hospital.
The driver of the side-by-side ATV refused medical treatment at the scene and was eventually arrested for DWI. The driver was brought to the Hibbing hospital as a precautionary measure and was found to have internal injuries.
The case remains under investigation and the names are being withheld, pending notification of family. Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors of the crash.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Cherry Fire Department, the Buhl Ambulance service, the Chisholm Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
