St. Louis County Public Works to hold open houses at three new facilities
St. Louis County Public Works has completed a multi-year project designed to ensure faster and more effective response for road maintenance. The County has constructed three new Public Works campuses, replacing five aged buildings that could no longer effectively serve modern day equipment and service needs.
To celebrate and provide residents a look at the new campuses and their capabilities, St. Louis County Public Works will be hosting open house events at each of the new locations, offering tours of the new buildings and a glimpse of the vehicles. The open houses will be:
Monday, August 12, 4-6 p.m.
Whiteface Reservoir Campus
3560 Town Line Road, Makinen
Tuesday, August 20, 4-6 p.m.
Culver Campus
5316 Highway 31, Culver
Monday, August 26, 4-6 p.m.
Kugler Campus
8632 Highway 135, Tower
The three new campuses were constructed for a total cost of $34 million, including funding from a $26 million bond sale approved by the County Board in 2021. They replace five smaller garages in Tower, Embarrass, Brookston, Brimson and the Town of White that had outlived their usefulness due to age, lack of space, or both.
Each new campuses includes a main building, storage buildings, salt/sand domes, brine storage system, fuel system, truck wash and paved driving and laydown areas that all support efficient cost-effective operations. The buildings were constructed with energy efficiency, ease of maintenance and longevity in mind.
 The new St. Louis County Public Works Whiteface Reservoir Campus is located at 3560 Town Line Road, Makinen. The public is invited to tour the facility during an open house Monday, August 12, 4-6 p.m.
 The new St. Louis County Public Works Culver Campus is located at 5316 Highway 31, Culver. The public is invited to tour the facility during an open house Tuesday, August 20, 4-6 p.m.
 The new St. Louis County Public Works Kugler Campus is located at 8632 Highway 135, Tower. The public is invited to tour the facility during an open house Monday, August 26, 4-6 p.m.
