ATV accident in Morse Township

On July 24, 2024, at 0719 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, along with the Morse Fire Department, Morse First Responders and Ely Ambulance, were dispatched to the report of an ATV accident with injuries in the 3000 block of Wolf Lake Road in Morse Township.

Once on scene, it was learned that a 19-year-old male driving a 4-wheeler had failed to navigate a left-hand turn in the road and entered the ditch where he struck a tree and was thrown from the ATV. The male driver told the reporting party that the accident had occurred hours earlier. It does not appear he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The male was subsequently flown to a Duluth hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Morse Fire Department, Morse First Responders, Ely Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
