Man rescued at Park Point
On July 12, 2024 at 1739 hours, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of male unresponsive in the waters off of Park Point. As first responders were responding to the call, a good Samaritan and on duty lifeguards were able to get to the man, a 38-year-old man from Mt. Iron, and bring him to shore where they immediately started life saving measures. As emergency personnel arrived on scene, the lifeguards were able to stabilize the male and he was ultimately transported to St. Luke's hospital by Mayo Ambulance. It appears alcohol is a contributing factor. The male was in serious condition at the time of the transport.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Duluth Fire Department, Duluth Police Department, Mayo Ambulance and US Coast Guard.
