Segment of Woodland Avenue in Duluth to close July 9 - July 30.

Woodland Avenue in Duluth will be closed to thru-traffic between St. Paul Avenue and Northfield Street from July 9 to July 30. The three-week closure allows for work on the underground storm sewer network, as well as the raised concrete medians, curb and gutter, and sidewalk.

DTA buses will still be able to use Woodland Avenue during the road closure. All other traffic should follow the designated detour route of Snively Road, Martin Road, and Woodland Avenue.
Access to Hartley will be maintained at all times but the direction may vary. For the first week, access to Hartley will be from the South.

This work is part of a larger project that includes repaving approximately 1.5 miles of Woodland Avenue from Snively Road to Anoka Street and constructing new curbs and gutters. Additionally, to improve safety for all road users, Woodland Avenue will change from two lanes in each direction to one lane each with a continuous center turn lane, and a bike lane will be added. Other safety improvements include enhanced pedestrian crossings at the entrance to Hartley Nature Center and at Minneapolis Avenue, and a new sidewalk from the Hartley entrance to Northfield Street. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of August.
