St. Louis County Board updates on road repairs/re-openings
With water levels starting to drop in some areas, St. Louis County Public Works is making progress in repairing roads washed out and closed by this week's rain and flooding. Temporary repairs are just about complete on two key roads - North Arm Road and Mud Creek Road - and they are expected to re-open by 5 p.m. this evening. Travelers should be aware that additional work is still needed to fully repair these roads, but that they are safely passable.
Public Works is reassigning staff to boost repair efforts, including shifting crews from lesser damaged areas to work in the hardest hit locations in the northern part of the county. Additionally, engineering and survey staff are assisting with damage assessment reporting to enable maintenance crews to fully focus on repairs.
No new roads have needed to close today; eight roads have re-opened, including North Arm Road and Mud Creek Road. A total of 35 roads remain closed. They include:

District 6 (Central St. Louis County including quad cities)
- Pettit Road closed west of Heritage Trail
- Hwy 44 closed between Brimson Toimi Road to Fairbanks Road
- Hwy 44 closed at Brimson Road (approximately 500 feet north)
- Hwy 44 closed at Jack Pine Road (approximately 1,500 feet to the south)
- Hwy 101 closed from Hwy 7 to Butler Road
- Voss Road closed at Hwy 101
- Brimson Toimi Road between Hwy 16 and Little Creek Road
- South Loon Lake Road closed just south of Hwy 16
- Williams Rd closed west of Smith Road.
- Wilson Road closed at Highway 4
District 7 (Southwestern St. Louis County)
- South Townline Road (CR 442) from Hingeley Rd. to two miles east of Hwy 73
- Sherwood Anderson Road between Williams Road and Osborn Road
- CR 65 closed 1.35 miles west of Highway 73 due to washed out culvert
- CR 63 just west of Hibbing
- Shaw Road between Hayes and 92
- Green Rock Road by Belchner Road
Numerous other roads have signs posted warning of water covering part of the road. In these instances, roads may be down to one lane, but are still considered passable. Roads will be re-opened as they are determined safe.
