On May 9th, 2024 at approximately 6:50 P.M. a structure fire was reported in the 6200 Block of Camp Road in Biwabik Township near Lake Esquagama. The fire was reported to have started from a camp fire which spread to a nearby shed. The fire continued on to the neighboring property where a cabin was destroyed and a second cabin was partially damaged.
The location of the fire was near two campgrounds (Camp Esquagama and Camp Sigel) however the fire was contained and did not spread to either of the camps.
No injuries were reported.
The fire is being investigated by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
