Fredenberg Township "Explosion" Complaint

On 12/06/2023, at approximately 8:30pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received multiple calls to 911 regarding a possible explosion somewhere within Fredenberg Township.  Reporting parties described the incident as a brief flash of light followed by a loud explosion.

Multiple units from the Sheriff's Office responded to the area to investigate the complaint.  There were no other calls, and the source of the complaint could not be identified.

On 12/07/2023, at approximately 1:30pm, a property owner in Fredenberg Township called 911 to report possibly finding the source of the complaint on his property.  The Sheriff's Office responded and located a metal pipe, or "launch tube" erected on the property that the owner said wasn't there the previous day.

This item is described as a metal tube, possibly the handle of a broom or something similar, that had evidence of charring around the top of it.  The evidence strongly suggests that this item was used to ignite some sort of aerial firework.  No other evidence was discovered that would suggest this was anything other than an illegal firework.

If anyone has information that would be helpful with identifying the person(s) responsible, you are asked to call 911.
