Two injured in Rice Lake house fire

On November 2, 2023 at 11:11 A.M., St. Louis County Sheriff's deputies, along with local fire departments, Mayo Ambulance, and Lifelink air medical responded to the 3700 block of W. Tischer Rd. on a report of an explosion at a residence. An adult male, identified as 32 year old Jadin Dallum, and an adult female, identified as 31 year old Mandy Dallum were rescued from the home shortly after the explosion by neighbors. The house then became fully engulfed in flames. Jadin was airlifted to Essentia health and Mandy was transported by ambulance. Both have serious injuries. Three children were known to reside at the residence but were safely located at school.

The cause of the explosion and fire remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshals Office. Early information indicates the furnace was being repaired at the time of the incident. The residence is believed to be a total loss.

Assisting agencies include the Rice Lake volunteer Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, the Air Guard Fire Department, Lifelink air medical, the Canosia volunteer Fire Department, the Normanna volunteer Fire Department, the Lakewood volunteer Fire Department, the Duluth Fire Department, and the Grand Lake volunteer fire department.
