Sexual Assault Arrest

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the Superior Police Department, at the request of St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, arrested 48-year-old CLINT MASSIE, of Grand Lake Township, in the City of Superior on two felony warrants stemming from charges of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct and 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct. The warrants were signed in St. Louis County District Court on October 18.  MASSIE is currently lodged at the Douglas County jail awaiting extradition back to Minnesota.

This investigation started in January of 2023 after an adult female victim came forward. She reported sexual abuse by MASSIE when she was a young child. As the investigation continued, additional victims were identified who also disclosed sexual abuse involving MASSIE when they were children. These incidents occurred at multiple locations, including MASSIE’s farm in Lakewood Township.

As the investigation continued, other female victims, who were children between the ages of 6 and 13, have come forward reporting allegations that over many years Massie sexually assaulted them at various locations to include his home, church and family gatherings. There are also additional victims that have come forward from out of state locations where Massie previously resided.

At this point, based on this extensive investigation, it is believed there are other victims of sexual abuse by MASSIE that have yet to come forward. The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with related information to call 911 or the Criminal Investigations Division general line at 218-336-4350.

The Sheriff’s Office would also like to provide additional information to the general public. If you, or someone you know, has been or is currently being sexually abused, please call 911 immediately or reach out to a local advocacy organization, such as PAVSA (Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault) at 218-726-1931 or First Witness Child Advocacy Center at 218-727-8353. If you live in the northern part of St. Louis County, you can also contact the Sexual Assault program there at 218-749-4725.
