Incident Summary: The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the report a two vehicle accident with injuries in the 3700 block of Martin Road in the City of Rice Lake. A 2005 Toyota Sienna mini van was travelinng east bound on Martin Road when it slowed and started to pull over onto the shoulder of the roadway. The Toyota Sienna then made a U-turn to head west on Martin Road. A 2005 Freightliner flat bed truck that was also traveling eastbound on Martin Road struck the Toyota Sienna on the driver's side. The driver of the Toyota Sienna, Jason Larson, was transported with serious injuries by Mayo Ambulance to Essentia Hospital in Duluth. The front seat passenger of the Toyota Sienna, Paul Larson, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the flat bed truck, Ricky Siegle was not injured in the accident. The accident is under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
Assisting with the accident scene was the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Rice Lake Fire Department, Duluth Police Department, MN State Patrol and Mayo Ambulance.
