National Night Out event includes health fair in White Township

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and White Township are coming together to host a National Night Out party, and this year will include a free health fair as part of the event. Activities will be held at the Loon Lake Community Center, 3816 Highway 100 in Aurora, MN 55705 (Loon Lake Community Center) on Tuesday August 1, from 4:30-8 p.m. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this free, family-friendly event.

Among the confirmed participants are St. Louis County Sheriff’s deputies with squad cars to tour, a K-9 team providing a demonstration, St. Louis County 911 dispatching center, and the Rescue Squad. The event will include a Life Link III helicopter landing - exact time to be determined. Numerous local EMS and Fire Departments will also be attending the event, along with other agencies as their schedules permit.

In conjunction with National Night, there will be a Health Fair inside the community center featuring a variety of vendors with services related to healthy living for all ages from early childhood to seniors. Like the National Night Out activities, the Health Fair will be open from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Also part of the event: a free community BBQ featuring brats, hot dogs and cold dessert. (Food is available only while supplies last.)  Amazing Charles, the magician, will perform, plus other child-friendly activities; there will be drawings for youth and adult prizes, and opportunity to meet with community leaders.

National Night Out is an annual celebration on the first Tuesday in August held by neighborhoods across the country that strives to promote community and strengthen relationships between citizens and their city’s public safety departments.
