Makinen area Burglaries

The Sheriff's Office investigated multiple cabin burglaries in unorganized township 57-16 in the Makinen area.  On 3/5/2023 Deputies were called to a cabin on Lost Lake Rd.  The reporting party saw a male who arrived on a green snowmobile breaking into sheds on his property through a security camera he was viewing from his residence.  The male, who was later identified as Jory Christian Sirjord, was arrested later that evening after fleeing from Sheriff's Deputies.  Sirjord was ultimately arrested without incident when his snowmobile became stuck in a ditch.  Deputies and Investigators were able to follow snowmobile tracks and located multiple other buildings, sheds and cabins burglarized in the area.  It was determined that the snowmobile in the incident was stolen from a property in the area.  Sirjord was arraigned on burglary, fleeing and theft charges on 3/8/2023.  The Sheriff's Office is still searching for another snowmobile that was taken, a 2005 Arctic Cat Firecat, black edition.  If you have any information pertaining to the stolen snowmobile or burglaries, please contact the Investigations division at the Virginia Sheriff's Office.
