Iowa woman injured in snowmobile accident.

On 02-24-23 at approximately 1753 hours, area first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the report of a personal injury accident, involving a snowmobile on the Taconite Trail, near Star Lake, located southwest of Ely.

It was reported that a 61-year-old female, who was the only occupant, had lost control of the snowmobile she was driving while attempting to navigate a turn causing her to be ejected from it.

It is believed that the female sustained a broken arm as a result of being thrown from the snowmobile. The female was transported by EMS to the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital with what are believed to be no life-threatening injuries.

Speed and icy trail conditions are believed to have been contributing factors to the accident. The incident remains under investigation by the St Louis County Sheriff's Office.
