Residential Structure Fire
On January 11, 2023, at approximately 0806 hours, multiple area fire departments were dispatched to a residential structure fire at the address of 4425 Solway Road in Solway Township.
The homeowner called 911 after returning home and observing smoke coming from the residence and located an active fire in a bathroom.
Fire departments from Solway Township, Grand Lake Township, Industrial Township, Canosia Township, Proctor, Hermantown, and the Air National Guard all assisted with the fire, but the house was ultimately deemed a total loss.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown at this time, but the homeowner stated he was using three space heaters inside the residence at the time of the fire.
The homeowner, and sole occupant of the residence, denied any offers of assistance and is now staying with family members. There were no injuries reported.
