40th annual St. Louis County Health & Human Services Conference opens Wednesday at the DECC

More than 2,300 people are scheduled to attend the 40th annual St. Louis County Health & Human Services Conference, which opens Wednesday at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC). The annual conference is one of the largest in the state for human services professionals, and runs through Friday.

This year's theme is Come Together: Community, Unity and Hope. The conference includes 132 workshops, two keynote speakers, an exhibit hall featuring nearly 190 booths and vendors, and opportunity for public and private sector practitioners and students to connect and recharge. Doors open at 10 a.m. Wednesday for attendees to check in and tour the exhibit hall. The opening ceremony is at 1 p.m. inside the DECC's Symphony Hall. Advance registration is closed, but walk-in registration is still available for $125 for the three-day conference.

The opening ceremony will include music by Breanne Marie & The Front Porch Sinners, along with Keynote Speaker Morris Morrison. Morrison is an entertainer, writer and entrepreneur, and is co-owner of StoryMaker Brands and Windmill Park Media. He describes himself as being obsessed with building stronger, kinder, connected human beings.

Friday's closing keynote speaker is Kathy Buckley, a comedienne, actress, motivational speaker, and author of the best-selling book If You Could Hear What I See. Buckley, who is hearing impaired, has appeared on numerous national programs, as well as performed at the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. Her message is that anything can be achieved when the heart and mind work together.

The 40th annual Health & Human Services Conference is organized and presented by St. Louis County, with support from nearly 60 community organizations. Attendees may participate in-person or virtually, with continuing education credits offered for many of the workshops. More information about the conference, and the complete schedule of workshops can be found online at stlouiscountymn.gov/hhsconference.
