Incident Summary: On September 10th, 2022 at approximately 1:26 P.M. Saint Louis County Sheriff's deputies along with the Saint Louis County Rescue squad responded to the Vermilion River near Crane Lake on a report of a missing 43 year old male.  The male had been in a canoe harvesting wild rice and was reported missing after his canoe was located unoccupied and overturned. 

The next day (September 11th, at approximately 4:00 P.M.)  the Saint Louis County Rescue Squad located the male deceased in the water. The cause of death and incident remain under investigation by the Saint Louis County Sheriff's Office.

The victim's name will be released after family notification has been made.

The victim in this incident is identified as Keith Joseph Roy age 43 of Orr, MN. The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
