Incident Summary: 

 

On 8/9/22 at 10:50 PM the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a water emergency at the Minnesota/Wisconsin point of entry. Five adults were traveling on Lake Superior in a 35ft boat when they collided with the break wall on the Minnesota side.  The boat was taking on water and was ultimately beached on rocks on the inside of the break wall. 

All occupants were able to make it to land with assistance from responding emergency agencies.  No one suffered any major injuries resulting from the crash.  The boat is currently still beached on the rocks and the safe removal is being coordinated.

The following agencies responded to the emergency: St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Duluth Fire Department, Duluth Police Department and the U.S. Coast Guard.
