City of Rice Lake

     

Incident Summary: 

On 6/30/2022 at approximately 2105 hours the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the report of a crash in the City of Rice Lake on E Calvary Rd near the intersection of 4th Ave S. 

A truck was being driven by a 28 year old female from Fredenberg Township.  The truck was traveling W bound on E Calvary Rd. 

Two motorcycles were both traveling E bound on E Calvary Rd.  The motorcycles were being driven by a 42 year old male from the City of Rice Lake and a 50 year old male from Canosia Township. Both the occupants of the motorcycles were pronounced deceased at the scene.  Names are being withheld currently while families are notified.

The crash took place in a curve in the road and there are independent witnesses.

The crash is currently being investigated by the Minnesota State Patrol and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office. 

Rice Lake Fire Department, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, University of MN Police and the Duluth Police Department responded and assisted at the scene.

Names of the deceased individuals who were driving motorcycles:

JACOB ALLAN LAURION  42 years old    Rice Lake, MN

STEVEN JOHN KOSLUCHER  50 years old   Canosia Township, MN  

Initial investigation shows no signs of impairment or distraction by the driver of the pickup truck.  At this time, evidence indicates at least one motorcycle had traveled into the oncoming lane.   The crash remains under investigation by both the MN State Patrol and the Sheriff's Office.
