High water leads to bridge closing near Linden Grove
High water levels on the Sturgeon River in northern St. Louis County have led to the closing of a bridge as a precautionary measure. The bridge is part of Murray Road (County Road 931) and is located approximately 5.5 miles southwest of Linden Grove.
Public Works maintenance crews noticed the water level had risen to the point of nearly touching the bridge deck. The bridge is expected to remain closed at least through the end of the week. County crews will continue to monitor the water level to determine when it is safe to re-open the bridge.
Recommended detours include State Highway 73 to the east, or County State Aid Highway 22 to the south.
With more flooding possible as snow continues to melt, people are reminded to call 911 to report any unsafe road or bridge conditions.
The Sturgeon River is nearly touching the bridge deck where Murray Road crosses it. St. Louis County Public Works closed the bridge as a precaution and expects it will remain closed at least through the rest of the week.
Officially known as Bridge 640 (shown in the top left) the bridge is part of Murray Road/County Road 931 and spans the Sturgeon River. It is temporarily closed due to the river's high water level.
