Incident Summary:
On the morning of March 24, 1977, 45 years ago, Cindy Joy Elias was found murdered off a logging road approximately eight miles north of Aurora, MN. Elias’s body was found buried under a pile of brush at the location. Investigation revealed she died due to traumatic injuries to the head. She was 19 years old at the time of her death.
Elias was last seen in Virginia, MN at a local bar at approximately 12:30 a.m. A witness said Elias was looking for a ride home and had mentioned she was going to hitch hike.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have information pertaining to this case to contact our agency. Please bring closure to the family and friends of Cindy Joy Elias and bring those responsible for this crime to justice.
