Incident Summary: 

Area first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the 4500 block of Autio Road, in Leading Township, located Northeast of the City of Orr, upon receiving the report of a garage being fully engulfed by fire, early this morning.

The property owner, identified as Michael Brockman, called 911 after he was unsuccessful in extinguishing the fire himself.

Upon the arrival of emergency services Brockman was treated for burns and smoke inhalation and transported to the Cook hospital by ambulance. Brockman was later transferred to a Duluth area hospital for advanced medical treatment related to his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. 

The single stall detached garage was a complete loss. Also damaged or destroyed because of the fire were two vehicles and boat.

The incident remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal and St. Louis County Sheriff’s office.

Assisting units: Orr Ambulance and Fire Department, Cook Fire Department, Crane Lake Fire Department, Bois Forte Fire Department, Virginia ambulance and Lake Country Power.
