4-H and Depot staff offer virtual tours for youth
Staff from 4-H and the Depot have teamed up to offer a series of behind-the-scenes virtual tours and learning opportunities geared for students in grades 5-8. The hour-long sessions are free and offered via Zoom each of the next three Thursdays. People can register through the University of Minnesota Extension website.
Each session runs from 7-8 p.m. and brings to life various historic and artistic aspects of northeastern Minnesota including:
March 11 (tonight) - The Homefront during World War II
March 18 - Woodworking and Forestry
March 25 - Theatre and the Depot
These virtual Depot tours, while geared toward middle school aged students, are open to anyone. They are presented live, and include an interactive chat feature for participants. Each session, including one presented last week on Duluth in 1910, is recorded so people can request video access later if they missed a session or want to watch again.
For more information on the virtual tours, or to request a video link on any of the sessions, contact Regional Extension Educator Jan Derdowski at derdo003@umn.edu.
The St. Louis County Depot is currently closed to the public while being used as a vaccination clinic. It will re-open on April 1. Learn more about the historic Depot and its tenants at experiencethedepot.org
