St. Louis County Public Works honored for Rice Lake Road project

The Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association has named a St. Louis County Public Works project as best in class for 2020. The association honored the county with its Asphalt Paving Merit Award for it's work reconstructing Rice Lake Road.

The project involved reconstructing more than half a mile of Rice Lake Road, widening the intersection at Arlington Avenue and Arrowhead Road and making improvements to Technology Drive. It was designed to improve traffic flow and safety throughout the area, while also better accommodating pedestrians and other forms of transportation.

The $4 million project was done in partnership with the City of Duluth, and was completed in the fall of 2020.
