Begin - 5698 Miller Trunk Hwy, Pike Lake 

End - Hwy 194 and Hwy 2, Saginaw

 

Incident Summary: 

On Friday night, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a vehicle carjacked by a male suspect. The incident started at the Super One Store in Pike Lake.  The male subject was armed.  He carjacked a vehicle with an adult female and her 16 year old son. The carjacking ended in the parking lot of the Saginaw Union Station near Hwy 194 and the intersection of Hwy 2.  At that time the subject fled on foot and the victims were able to call for help.

A St. Louis County Deputy used deadly force while utilizing a canine to track the subject northeast of the Saginaw Union Station in a wooded area. 

Sheriff's Office deputies were not injured. The woman and her son were not physically injured. The MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) will be handling the investigation. BCA agents and the Crime Scene Team responded.

The male subject was deceased at the scene.

More details will be released when possible.  The investigation is still ongoing at this hour.
