INDIVIDUAL(S) INVOLVED: (Refer to News Media Policy-Rules III A. I Thru 4: Procedures B.1, A thru J & 1; 2b; 3b; g & h; 4a, b, & c)

Incident Summary: 

On 12/20/2020 at approximately 12:45PM, The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Lake Fire Department, Industrial Fire Department, Alborn Fire Department, and Cloquet Area Fire Department responded to a garage fire on the 6100 block of South Shelin Road in New Independence Township. The fire began in a loft apartment located in the attic of the garage. Fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire before the garage became a total loss. The fire is believed to have been started by an overloaded surge protector and does not appear to be of a suspicious nature. No one was in the apartment at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.
