Incident location: Midway Road/ Old Highway 61 Midway Township, MN 55810

 

Incident Summary:

On October 26, 2020 at approximately 2:45PM the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Proctor Police Department, Hermantown Police Department, MN State Patrol, Midway Fire Department, Proctor Fire Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of Midway Road and Old Highway 61 in Midway Township. The accident occurred when a semi-truck pulling an empty flatbed trailer, traveling eastbound on Old Highway 61, failed to yield before crossing the intersection at Midway Road. The semi-truck then hit the driver’s side of a pickup truck traveling north bound on Midway Road. The driver of the pickup was transported to Essentia hospital with what is believed to be serious injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. The driver of the semi-truck received no injuries. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
