Reminder from the Auditor's Office: you only have to apply for an absentee ballot once this election

With increased attention focused on voting by absentee ballot, the St. Louis County Auditor's Office is reminding citizens that if they've already requested an absentee ballot for this November's election, then they don't have to request it again.

"A lot of organizations have been sending people information - in the mail and online - with information on how to vote by absentee ballot," said Phil Chapman, St. Louis County Elections Supervisor. "And so we're hearing questions from people who aren't quite sure if their registration was received or if they need to apply again."

Absentee ballots were mailed out beginning last week after the early voting period started. Currently it's taking about a week to process requests for absentee ballots. Information about how to request an absentee ballot and other election information can be found online at stlouiscountymn.gov/vote. People can check the status of their absentee or mail ballot at mnvotes.sos.state.mn.us/AbsenteeBallotStatus.aspx.
