Incident Summary:
Early this morning deputies from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the call of a motor vehicle crash with injuries in Normanna Township, about 20 miles north of Duluth. When first responders arrived, the single occupant of the vehicle was located, ejected from the SUV.
Kathryn Clark was determined to be the driver of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Clark was traveling east bound on Pioneer Road East, when her vehicle left the roadway striking a driveway embankment causing it to be launched into a tree. Initial investigation of the crash shows that Clark died on impact during the incident.
This is the second fatal vehicle crash on St. Louis County roadways in last 24 hours. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in both of these crashes, as well as neither driver wearing a seatbelt at the time. Both of these tragic crashes are a reminder to drive sober and always, always buckle up before traveling anywhere. This is message that should be shared with loved ones often, as a reminder to do the same.
