Virtual event "Celebrate Recovery Together" set for Thursday
For someone living with a substance use or mental health disorder, recovery isn't a a one-time event. It's an ongoing effort to maintain recovery. With September being National Recovery Month, St. Louis County is teaming up with the CAPE Coalition, Bois Forte Band of Chippewa, and University of Minnesota Extension to offer a virtual event "Celebrate Recovery Together" on Thursday, September 17, from 1-3 p.m. The event is free and open to anyone who wishes to participate. Additionally, the event will be recorded so people who cannot view the event live can watch it later online.
Celebrate Recovery Together will include information on relapse prevention, self-care, education/prevention and community support. Specific topics for presentations and break out sessions include AA Communities, NA Communities, Yoga, Healthy Living Skills/Prenatal Care, Tobacco Cessation, Celebrate Recovery Groups, Resilience Techniques when dealing with High ACE’s Scores, Sober Squad, and Recovery Alliance Duluth.
"Our goal for this event is to pull the recovery community together to celebrate the success they have achieved," said Bryan Johnson, a Substance Use Disorder Social Worker for St. Louis County. "We also want to show the community that recovery does exist on the Iron Range and that there is hope."
