On August 22, 2020 at approximately 11:55 P. M Deputies with the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 8744 Pequaywan Lake Road in Pequaywan Township for a report of an ATV accident with injuries. When deputies arrived on scene, they located a 40 year old male, unconscious, lying on the pavement with severe injuries. Through the deputies investigation, deputies' learned that the male had left the area at a high rate of speed on his ATV and lost control, causing the ATV to roll, and the male being ejected. The driver of the ATV was transported to a local Duluth Hospital where he is currently being treated for life threatening injuries.
Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors of the crash. Accident remains under investigation at this time.
The driver's name is currently being withheld pending the notification of family members.
