Incident Summary: On 07-03-2020, at approximately 3:03 P.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a watercraft accident on Little Sturgeon Lake in Side Lake, MN in French Township. The MN DNR, Chisholm Fire/Ambulance Service, Hibbing Ambulance Service, French Township 1st Responders, and North Memorial Air Medical also responded and assisted with the accident. An adult male and female from Hibbing, MN were riding on a jet ski traveling eastbound on the lake and a second jet ski driven by an adult male from Chisholm, MN was traveling westbound. The eastbound jet ski turned right towards shore and the westbound jet ski collided with the eastbound jet ski. The occupants were ejected from the jet skis. The adult male from Hibbing sustained a left leg injury. He was airlifted by North Memorial Air Medical to Essentia Health- Duluth. The adult female from Hibbing sustained a left leg injury and was transported by Chisholm Ambulance to Essentia Health-Virginia. The adult male from Chisholm, MN was uninjured. Alcohol was determined to be a contributing factor in the accident. The names of the parties are being withheld pending family notifications and formal charges. The accident is under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
