Spring load restrictions end, some county roads still posted

Spring load restrictions have been lifted on St. Louis County roads effective today. However some roads - most of them gravel - continue to be posted with weight limits due to their individual condition. In total, slightly less than 170 miles of the county's 3,000 miles of roads remain posted.

For the convenience of drivers of heavier vehicles, the county has added a map to its website showing which roads continue to have weight restrictions posted. The map, along with other information can be found online at stlouiscountymn.gov/roadrestrictions. For updates on these roads, or for any other questions, people are encouraged to call the nearest Public Works maintenance garage. The locations include: Pike Lake – (218) 625-3800; Hibbing – (218) 262-0150; Virginia – (218) 742-9800; and Cook – (218) 666-5261.
