Spring road restrictions to end May 8 on St. Louis County roads

Spring load restrictions, which have been in place since mid March, will be lifted at the end of next week. Road restrictions will end on Friday, May 8, for both the North and North-Central Frost Zones, which cover all of St. Louis County. Certain roads may continue to have load limits based on their particular condition. Signs will clearly mark those roads.

Information on zone boundaries can be found on the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) website at mndot.gov/loadlimits.

The ending dates for spring load restrictions vary each year based on how weather is affecting roadway strength. These dates are established by monitoring roadway strength as weather conditions change. For more information on road restrictions, or to view County maps detailing restrictions, visit stlouiscountymn.gov/roadrestrictions.
